Does Echinacea help to prevent cold?

I was totally sure that Echinacea is very good for cold and flu and I was using it more then once while I was ill. But my friend told me that he read somewhere that Echinacea no effect on colds. Now I’m a little confused. Does Echinacea help to prevent cold?

I read some new researches and they confirm that people with impaired immune function might benefit from taking echinacea during the winter months to prevent colds and flu, but that healthy people did not require long-term preventative use. Also echinacea may reduce the duration of illness and decreases the severity of cough.

Does Echinacea help to prevent cold?
