Does the asthma medication Proventil cause weight gain?

My little kid is 8 years old and he already has health problems. Unfortunately, he is suffering from asthma and in constantly under therapy. My friend at work has a brother that also suffers from asthma and uses Proventil. She said that it is an excellent medicament, but I am not that eager to change my sons therapy so soon. Does the asthma medication Proventil cause weight gain?

Proventil is used not only for those suffering from asthma, but also for all that have some breathing difficulties. This medication is a sympathomimetic, with primary role of dilatation of the bronchi and is beta agonist. Its main effect is to relax the muscles in the walls of air paths. It should help your son, but still, you might wait a bit longer and see if the current therapy has effects or not.
