Hi! My sister waits a kidney transplant past two years. Her condition is very serious. I think about donating a kidney. I didn’t say her anything about that. Before I decide to donate a kidney I need some information about donation. What tests I will have?

Hi! You are very brave! There is some information. I had kidney transplantation. To be a kidney donor you must be very healthy. Your blood type needs to be compatible with the blood type of your sister. You will need to have blood tests, urine tests and x-rays before surgery. You will need to have a check up with a nephrologists and an urologist. You will need to take four to twelve weeks off work to have the operation and to recover from the operation.
