Posted: 01/19/07 - 14:19 Post subject: Dr. diagnosed me with gallbladder working at 22% |
I have had pain & a feeling of something being squeezed inside me on my right side under ribs. I have had to go to the ER a few times and have had several tests, blood work, urine test, ultrasound, endoscopy, PIPIDA scan. They find no gallstones & have said that my pancreas are working fine. After the PIPIDA scan my doctor called to say that I should have my gallbladder removed because it's only working at 22%. He prescribed pain medicine, protonix & elavil(?). He hasn't mentioned anything about changing my diet or to be cautious of anything. I haven't seen anything about gallbladder working at any % and having to have it removed any where on the internet. Can anyone else give me info to this?
Thanks. |

hi there are some wonderful web sites that deal with liver and gb cleanses. google curezone and click on ask andreas or ask barefoot and look at the cleanses.
there are also some great herbal remadies that can be taken.
but have a look at curezone you will learn a lot.
only get the gb out as a last resort. |

| A HIDA scan can reveal gallbladder problems even when ultrasound says all is normal. HIDA scan shows how well gallbladder is working. Failure to visualize gallbladder 60 to 120 minutes after injection of the radionuclide dye is consistent with acute cholecystitis. Delayed flling of the gallbladder is consistent with chronic cholecystitis. Your gallbladder function can be numerically determined by calculating the capability of the gallbladder to eject its contents. An ejection fraction below 35% indicates primary gallbladder disease. *I had a normal ultrasound but on HIDA scan had delayed filling of the gallbladder and ejection fraction of only 8%. I underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy and feel 100% better now.* Hope this information is useful. |

| I have been having RUQ abdominal pain for 10 years. I recently had a HIDA scan that revealed a 0% ejection fraction. I have a history of stomach ulcers as well. My surgeon wants to do an edoscopy before surgery. I didn't feel comfortable with the test, so we compromised with an upper GI scan. Why do I need this test first and what is he looking for? |
