Dry, cracked, swollen, painful fingers/thumb.

62 year od female has experienced dry cracked fingertips for several years. Different moisturizers have given measured relief. 1.5 years ago, experienced sinusitis with severe drying of skin on face/cheek area. Fluocinonide ointment usp 0.05% was prescribed and was effective for the above and as it was used by patient, it also helped in relief of dry, cracked fingers. The finger condition worsened and in the past 6-8 months a dermatologist has prescribed Clobetisol, ( possibly misspelled) andTriamcinolone Acetonide Ointment USP 0.1%. These helped temporarily but near end of use period, condition would revert to original state. Cotton Goves at night with moisturizers or above steriod creams have had limited success. The condition originally affected the thumb, index and middle finger of the left hand only, but has recently involved the left ring finger also. On the right hand only the thumb is affected. Presently both thumbs are swelling near the nail. Patient experierencing servere itching, peeling skin and pain. Skin is so dry that just bending the thumb causes crack to appear. Essentiallly every suggested moisturizer anyone recommended has been tried: some had better results than others, but none helped more than a few days.

45 year old male with same symptoms and all remedies, creams and PRESCRIPTIONS don't HELP. Both index fingers and both middle fingers are cracked in the middle (palm side) and this condition has been prevalent for the last 4 years, all seasons.
