Hi,

I just got Duromine from my doctor.
I read up on the drug and realised many said it is actually SPEED.

I do encounted some side effect. I cant sleep. It was really bad for the 1st 5 days. However, it went off and on the 6th day, i started to feel sleepy. I am so glad I feel like sleeping.

However, i still continue to eat but more selective on my intake.

I took alot of veg so i wun have constipation and it helps. Among these day, I poo 3x.

Duromine comes in different strengths, 40mg, 30mg and 15mg. If side effects are a problem try the 15mg, weight loss is not quite as fast, but side effects are barely noticed and sleeping is no problem.

I am about to take duromine, but worried when someone said the bad side effects "don't necessarily go away". How long might they hang around for?

Hi, I have read so much up on Duromine and have also asked people who have been on it and to be honest it is soooo different with everyone. I think that if you actually have had to courage to go to the doctor and get the stuff that you should at least give it a go. I know I am. I am starting it tomorrow and if I have any severe problems I will go off it immediately. Just use common sense and don't wait too long if you have a bad reaction. Some people have told me that they have never got over the side effects eg. sleeplessness, even after being off the drug for years. Some have said that they didn't notice much difference at all. I think that if you actually have a problem as irregular heart beat, blood pressure and insomnia that you are not aware of yet that this drug will unmask it. So I suppose it's a risk that you have do decide whether you are willing to take.

I need to lose 10kgs in 4weeks. Will keep you posted! Very Happy

Hey Guys, I started using Duromine 15mg in 2003 but they didn't work in terms of weight loss, I was just very scared and nervous, when I hear the sound of a car I'd cross the road fast thinking it's close even though I have not seen it yet. I then tried the 30mg in May 2004 which worked wonders for me, I lost 15kgs in 3 weeks and I was very very weak. My knees were no longer flexible, I couldn't climb the stairs. I was 80 and had a weight of 65kgs, my height is 1.56m. So, I think that had to do with the fact that I was never eating, I would vomit when I eat 2 slice of bread, I'd manage to eat half an apple a day, I'm sure that's why I was weak. After the 3 weeks I still had no appetite until on the 6th week. I am now 68kgs and I eat like a pig, I don't exercise, I hardly eat the fruits. So, this means that I have only gained 3kgs in 3 years and it's because of how I eat. I gotten naughty because my 16yr old sister wanted to try them, I gave her the ones of another week and in 1 week she had lost 4kgs but gotten sick and had to be rushed to the hospital, but she wasn't dying. She had stomach cramps, and she also had a pain that was in between the breasts, she was saying it was sounding like she has swallowed a tennis ball and it's hot, like she has a heart burn. But at the hospital they gave her something for the stomach and she was fine, we didn't tell them what really happened, she was very weak as well, sorry guys but she wanted them and she was at 16 weighing 87kgs. So guys I have something called the hyperthroid, I noticed it after the duromine, the weekness in my body did not really end and when I went to the doctor, he said that it is that my thyroid gland is swollen. The reason why you get this is when you lack iodine or if someone in your family once had it. So, I'm sure in the 6 weeks that I was really not eating my body needed iodine and I was not eating let alone having sea foods, so I think this is how I got it. I'm feeling good now, but they have to operate me on the neck or give me medicine for the rest of my life. I'm choosing the operation, so I cannot really link the 2, I can't say Duromine caused goitre, but my loss of appetite caused it especially that I was not eating sea foods. I emphasize that you still need to eat your balanced diet and force yourself to eat. You also need to drink them in the morning, I don't know whether duromines know what time of the day it is, but if I drink tham at 5 in the morning, my day will be fine. If I drink them later at about 10 in the morning, I will feel sick no matter what time I will have my breakfast. Or is it that I drank them before meals or you should have them after meals, I don't recall.

My friend was on Duromine 30mg for 3 mths last March. She lost about 35kg. But man, she had a very nasty temper while on those pills. She developed hypertension too, had frequent headaches the whole time. But for the sake of being skinny, she put up with it.
Within a year, she gained about 20+kg since she didn't really change her previous eating habit. I'm not really sure if she's going to put back all the weight. She doesn't want to go back on Duromine because she's still afraid of the side effects. Furthermore, her doctor warned her that there's a chance that the drug will cause permanent/fatal damage to her vital organs.
I do think that you'll have to adjust your eating habits and exercise to keep the weight off. I really don't think it's worth losing your life just to be 'skinny'.
Just my 2c.

I guess I must be one of the lucky ones. I used Duromine for almost a year. I have lost 30kg and had no side effects whatsoever, no headaches, insomnia, palpatations etc. Mind you I took the milder dose of 15 ml not 30 as is sometimes advertised. Everyone is different and bodies react differently. The biggest mistake most people make with Duromine is they do not change their eating & exercise habits and when they come off it weight will come back because of this. Like anything be prepared to work and make sure you get regular checkups with your doctor. The best method for weight loss is still regular exercise, portion sizing and healthy eating.
