Hi! This is my 1st day taking duromine and i have already lost 2kg! Thats because I couldn't eat all day. At lunch i forced myself to eat but couldn't, and when i saw a fried curry puff i was so tempted ! but after having the 1st bite, i was instantly full! This duromine is amazing! Its helped me a lot with controlling my carb cravings particularly the afternoon pick me ups - the great thing is, I don't feel weak without the food (of which normally i would) i guess it's the amphetamine part of the drug - i am feeling ridiculously happy all day, as if i`m floating on air and its giving me this special kind of energy ... plus i`m feeling full with all the water i`m drinking (duromine does make me kindda thirsty )..so instead of craving for carbs, i am craving for water! I hope this drug will have a lasting effect

Hi everyone

I started Duromine today. I did take it many years ago and experienced some pretty bad side effects that mostly related to personality changes. However, at the time I wasn't really aware of what I was doing. I lost about 30kg and was thrilled. Over the years, because of being bedridden and having illness (not related to the duromine or anything like that) I have put on weight again. I now weigh 82kg.

I asked my doctor who knows all about my medical condition and he was supportive about me taking Duromine (of course he would rather I did the weight loss without it but after a lot of talking we decided I would use it.) I do suffer from high blood pressure and am a little worried about that but I will be seen by my doc regularly.

What I did today (first day) was to take just half the capsule so the effects wouldn't be too bad. Has anyone tried doing it like this (i.e. just talking half a cap a day?) Did it work OK?

Now that I am a lot older (15 years older) and my husband will be on the lookout to see if my moods start to swing too much and I can stop them immediately, I'm not overly scared by the side effects but still am a little worried.

So, like I said above, my main question is has anyone tried just half a capsule and how did it go? Did you move onto a whole cap later?

I wish you all luck with your weight loss Smile

Sasha

Hello everyone!

i was reading through the posts, and i did try the 30mg and 40mg off Duromine i was 95 kg in December 2003 and with Duromine by March 2004 i was in my healthy weight range again and got to 68 kgs. The side effects were so not worth it, so many mood swings, hot flushes, when i would hear footsteps they would distract me and sound much louder than usual, i was even arguing with my boyfriend at the time due to my moods.

When the weight came off the amount of attention from men was triple and men would always come and talk to me much much more. It was an amazing feeling. LOL

I then found that after stopping Duromine in March in 2004, by november 2004 i was back to 78 kilos and ended up putting all the weight back on, mid 2005 was 85 kilos, and by late 2007 right up to 97 kilos, so i actually put on all the weight back and more. I am now on a much much better pill which is the same family of DUROMINE it is called REDUCTIL comes in 10mg and 15mg i am on the 15 mg, side effects are not like DUROMINE, it is much more safe !

Reductil can give some headaches and dry mouth in the beginning but it does not have any bad side effects such as mood swings, Reductil looks similar to Duromine. just a different colour in fact. I am losing weight on Reductil very quickly as quick as DUROMINE without the side effects! i am now 9 kilos overweight and have lost 10 kilos on REDUCTIL in 5 weeks, so its generally around 2 kilos per week, also i do gym 5 to 6 times a week, for a speedier result. Where as with Duromine i did no exercise at all.

I believe that anyone who does not do gym whilst coming off Duromine will put the weight back on because thats what everyone tells me including Doctors and my friends. Losing weight is a life time plan, i have learnt my lesson, when i saw the weight come back on.

Well i wish you all luck and hope you all achieve your goals!

Vanessa Melbourne Australia.

Hi Sasha i think the halving of the capsule is not recommended pharmacists and doctors have told me about this before.

I just want to highlight to everyone that you should keep in mind that people are twice as likely to talk about a bad experience rather than a good one. When i was deciding if i wanted to give Duromine a go, i had a look at everyone's experiences with Duromine, and found myself getting really scared. I made a promise to myself that i would come back on here after a month and write about it, even if it was a good experience...so here i am!

I'm not obese, but really wanted to lose about 20kg...just to regain some confidence and make myself healthier. I tried lots of diets whilst exercising, but found that i didn't really have the self-control needed to stick them out.

I went on Duromine (40mg) for two months and lost the whole 20kg easily because it made me see eating as fuel for my body rather than something to pass the time. I stuck to about 800 calories per day and exerised at least 3 times a week for 1 hour doing high intensity cardio workouts.

In terms of any side-effects....the worst of it for me were headaches, dizziness and a dry mouth - but i'd like to highlight that headaches and dizziness usually occur whenever a person is losing weight quickly, it's not necessarily caused by Duromine. As i was taking the pill very early in the morning (5am), i'd then go back to sleep for about 2-3 hours and wake up feeling very refreshed. Due to taking it early on in the day, going to sleep at night was never a problem! My moods didn't change at all, and instead i found that i was more focussed at work.

Before being prescribed Duromine, i made sure that my GP checked out my blood pressure etc, and told me all the side effects.

I think it's important for people taking this medication to remember to make themselves eat, even if you're not hungry. If you don't eat, you can't expect it to work without you experiencing pretty nasty side-effects. And if you're not exercising, don't expect to keep the weight off!

Personally, i found Duromine to be magic and i just thought it was necessary to share my great experience to bring a bit more perspective to these discussions.

Good luck everyone and i wish you all an experience as good as mine!!!

I am on my 2nd week for duromine, the red + grey capsule. Last week on the 4th day of duromine I checked, I lost one kg! But.. Sigh.. Maybe it is bcuz of my eating pattern?? For the first few days I really did not have appetite, but I found myself weak, so forced myself to have a little. But now, I dont feel like my appetite is surpressed. I sometimes eat more than my usual portion (i binge on pastries ><") I havent checked my weight since the 4th day. Has anyone heard before that it makes our flesh flabbier?? I found my thighs flabbier than usual.. UGLY!!! Mad

weight loss is great
xenical is not so great, reduces body abosrtion of fat by 70%
take to much and will get leakage.....

maintain a well balance between calorie intake and calories burnt.

My doctor prescribed me with Duromine and it is working great, with the side affect thing... i think that it relates souly to the person that is taking this drug as i have only had one side affect which is constipation, whereas the people above seemed to have suffered much worse side affects. I have an incredibly slow metabolism and i also use to be an over eater and i ate whenever i was bored, since taking Duromine this has all changed and now i only eat 3 whole meals a day and I don't have the "wanting" of food any more... ITS GREAT!!! (don't forget about exercise as well)
