Early miscarriage? Late, spotting, followed by VERY heavy bleeding.

Hi.

I was sexually active during my ovulation/fertile days (we used a condom, but it was old, though not expired). I was not at first concerned, but then I was late for my period by three or so days - which is very abnormal for me. I'm always regular. I had the usual cramping feeling, but no bleeding.

I took a pregnancy test about 3 days after I was due, which was negative, then I noticed some spotting. I thought this was going to be my period, but nothing else happened and my periods are normally fairly heavy.

Now today, 6 days after I was due, I woke up with very sudden, extremely heavy bleeding. Much heavier than my usual period. I'm assuming this is just the build up of blood that hadn't yet come out yet, but I also though, could it maybe be an early miscarriage? Is there any other reason I would have been late?

It is also possible that you had a harmless luteal cyst which caused the second part of your cycle (that after you ovulated) to be a bit longer than usual. Or you may have ovulated later than usual. Good luck!
