I got my braces a week ago. I still feel soreness in my mouth and avoid eating food that needs to be chewed. I guess that it would be impossible to keep doing that, because I can’t like on liquid food. What are the recommendations for eating with braces? I’m 17 and probably will have to wear braces for next year, year and half.

It takes time to adjust on braces. Soon you’ll be able to eat anything you want. I’d recommend you to avoid chewy and sticky food, popcorn, caramels and very hard food. You can crust your meal into bite size pieces, so you don’t need to avoid apples, carrots or meat. Be more careful about your mouth hygiene, use floss, oral irrigators or fluoride mouth rinse.
