More and more people are going for the frozen fish from the supermarkets as they are easer to get and quicker to prepare. But what these frozen fish consumers don’t know is that frozen fish lacks vital nutritients and is more expensive than the fresh fish.

Supermarkets are offering a wide variety of different fish, however health experts recommend buying fish at the local fish shops.
Not only that it’s healthier but also cheaper.

Major supermarkets offer over 50 different products on their shelves most of them being crumbed and battered. It has been found that these products contain low percentage of fish and therefore a reduced amount of essential omega-3 fats.
Omega-3 fats are polyunsaturated fats and important nutritients. They are found mainly in fish and have a very good impact on health.
They were found to lower the chances of developing heart disease and to be important for the development of the central nervous system in babies before and after they're born. Recent studies reveal their good impact on cognitive abilities.

Health experts found that a healthy dose of these fats are found in fresh oily fish and that six or more serves of the frozen meal per day is taken to get the normal amount of omega-3s.
