Hello, folks. My aunt has been suffering from RA for awhile. She has been on NSAID for a certain period of time. I would like to know what effect these meds have in RA treatment. I would really appreciate all your advices and answers about this. Thank you in advance. Bye!

Hello, there. NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) are very often prescribed in rheumatoid arthritis. They usually reduce pain and inflammation. However, one should be careful when taking them. They can stimulate stomach acid and there is often gastric ulcer with these patients. Stomach bleeding can be another complication, especially when NSAIDs are combined with alcohol. Liver and kidney can also be damaged. That is why your wife should be careful. I hope she will follow her doctor’s instructions. Bye!
