Effectiveness and safety of beclomethasone dipropionate?

My son has been dealing with asthma for a long time. He is taking his meds regularly (he takes beclomethasone as an aerosol). This drug helped a lot, decreased the severe attacks that were hurting my child. Since he has been taking it for a long time, I would like to hear something more about Effectiveness and safety of beclomethasone dipropionate? I am so worried about him.

Beclomethasone dipropionate is a corticosteroid, but he represents this medication as the first choice in dealing with asthma. Reason for that is because it effectively cut the number of asthma attacks, and it does not have many side effects. Applied locally, it does not cause any systematic side effect. That happens if the drug has been taken orally.
