I've been on Effexor XR (btwn 150-75mgs) for almost a year now to treat anxiety and depression. Recently, I decided that it wasn't working as I had hoped it would, because I was still becoming very anxious at times. I'm a student in a very demanding major (architecture) and sometimes can't handle the stress!
So I stopped. I told my doctor, who prescribed Wellbutrin (which seems to work fine for other memebers of my family) and gave me a smaller dose of Effexor.
It's horrible! (the stopping)
I can't focus my eyes, I constantly feel like crying for no reason, I'm extremely irritable; I've got headaches, nausea, "brain shivers," drowsiness, sweating, and probably some random ones thrown in there.
I don't have any more effexor, so I really just have to sit this one out, which is horrible (unless I can scrounge some up in my house).
I've read a lot of complaints, comments, and (great!) support from people on this site and all over the web.
Maybe I just wanted to get that out there, but I think what I really want is some advice!
The advice online is rare (albiet good, usually) and individualized (even better!). The reason probably being is that NO ONE wants to get through it again, and it seems you just have to push through it and get it over with. If I never wanted to do something (like this) again, and didn't know what to do about it, my advice would be probably non-existant.
Haha, it sounds like I just want a hug. XD
I'm just going to sit through this and get off Effexor, since it seems like a horrible thing to be on anyway, due to the withdrawal.
I'm stubborn.
I can do it.
I'm going to hate it, I'm sure.
... I've only been off half a week. 
Also...quick question -- while I was on Effexor, I also was taking (over-the-counter) Excedrin (works great for my headaches!) But the two of them seemed to have some weird reaction with each other and I kept getting giant bruises all over my body! When I stopped using Excedrin, the bruises stopped.
Has anyone ever heard of / had this?
