Hi. I am in my menopause and my doctor recommended estrogen pills to deal with hot flashes. I would like to hear from somebody with experience about estrogen therapy. I also have a bladder control problem, and don`t know how to cope with it any more?

Hi. Estrogen therapy is considered to be the most effective treatment for hot flashes. Estrogen therapy is associated with certain health risks (such as stroke), when taken with progesterone. That is why you must take low doses to relieve the symptoms. Progesterone therapy is an alternative to estrogen, and some doctors prescribe progesterone to control hot flashes. Estrogen may help you with your bladder control problem, but I do Kegel`s exercises. I also quit smoking.
