Believe it or not, diabetes takes 3 million deaths per year and is taking the fourth place in the death causes around the world. The numbers have increased from 30 to 230 millions in the last twenty years. The biggest incidence of diabetes is reported in developing countries where people take up sedentary jobs the most and turn to unhealthy diets and ways of living.

Countries that are affected by diabetes the most are from Chinese and Indian region. China is the leading country with 39 million diabetes sufferers. After china comes India with an estimated 30 million people. The Caribbean and the Middle East take the third place on this scale.

There is no much hope for people who suffer from diabetes in some parts in Africa and it represents the shortest way to death as the sufferers manage to survive up to 30 months after being diagnosed with the disease.

There are many factors that contribute to diabetes development that we can’t control like genetics. However, the most common reasons found are inadequate diets and lack of exercise, which means we could actually prevent the disease consciously. Such way of living leads to weight gain which contributes to development of the type 2 diabetes. This is the most common form of diabetes.
Diabetes i.e. inability to make or use insulin leads to raised high blood sugar levels and if not treated it could lead to blindness and kidney damage. The biggest problem is that about 50 % of diabetics don’t even know they have the disease.

Scientists are calling upon Governments to take actions and start educating people about the causes and dangers of this nasty disease.
