For the past several weeks, I've notice that I've had an excessive amount of stool when I defecate. In fact, it seems to be usually hard and comes in "one stream," making it usually sort of difficult to pass my stool. In fact (and I'm sure this is TMI), my toilet has become clogged about the last 4 times I have defecated (irregular, once every 3 days maybe). I know this is not caused by too much paper, as I try to flush "before" using paper to make sure it will all go down. It does appear to be an excessive amount of fecal matter. A few days ago, it was the toughest time I've ever had in doing my business, having to painfully force the process eventually after about 20 minutes.

I feel something is definitely wrong by the amount of fecal matter, the irregularity and the seemingly hardness of the stool. While I have drank many fluids over the past months (not much alcohol), my skin appears to be the result of some dehydration (tents and looks much older than I am (51)).

I am an untreated diabetic due to having no health insurance and my sugar averages in the high 200s or low 300s. Also, I had bypass (6) open heart surgery approximately 5 years ago.

I really need to know what is causing a seemingly large amount of fecal matter.

What goes in must come out. Going poo every three days is three days worth of food going in. My 19 year old son has the same thing going on. He has to plunge the toilet all the time. What are you eating and how much do you eat? Are you eating healthy? Sweets and junk can stop up the inner plumbing making for a miserable stomach and an uncomfortable bm. You must drink a lot of water as this will keep everything well lubricated. Also, try a stool softner, not a laxative.
Do you drink a lot of milk or eat a lot of dairy? You may be lactose intolerant. I love a big glass of iced cold milk, one is fine, but if i drink it everyday within 3 or 4 days i can't go, when i finally do it feels like i trying to back a volkswagon out of my butt. Needless to say, milk is off the table.
Take a look at your eating habits and maybe thru the process of elimination you can get yourself on track again. I know you don't have medical insurance but you should really seek out a clinic that works on a sliding scale or contact your local Department of Social Services, you may be eligible for medicade. It's worth the phone call.
