Exposed Bone/Abnormal Growth Inside Nostril?

I've had a little bit of discomfort inside my nostril, kind of like having a cold or some such, and today I finally went to look and it appears there's an exposed bone. I touched it and it feels like bone. Um, it feels weird, like having a nosebleed, but there hasn't been any blood.

...what should I do? How does something like that happen?
