Extended period after starting Depo (the shot).

I just started using Depo (The shot) and my periond before depo was never longer than 4 days long and wasn't heavy at all and now my period has lasted over a week and didn't lighten up at all. Is this normal? Confused

I was on the depo shot for abou t9 months and stopped because throughout the entire time I had my period with only 1 or 2 days WITHOUT it. I thought stopping the shot would stop the extended period but since Ihave stopped(about 4 months) I still have my period. is it normal? Idont think so but my doctor said every woman is different and it wont harm you at all. he said the only solution other then to let it run its course would be to take hormones or something and change birth control and I dont know if I want to take them.
