Extreme stomach pain after eating certain things

well here I am another of the one afflicted with this strange problem with no answers. I am 29 female and my pains started about 8 months after the birth of my second child. I went to the doctor and she ran a number of blood tests, an ultra sound, a breath test (to test for stomach parasites) put me on a trial of ulcer meds and when she said she was going to do an endoscopy I quit going to the doctor! I describe the pain as a migraine in my stomach, it is bad enough that i cant think straight and usually have to lay down and not move, which isnt practical with 2 kids under the age of 6. I found that when I eat eggs that the attacks are worse, yet when I eat something with eggs mixed like say cake or bread .... nothing.!? so maybe If I ate the whole cake to get all of the two eggs into my stomach ... but surely that would give anyone a belly ache! I quit eating eggs but occasionally I still have attacks, because my doctor couldnt find anything, my family all think I am nuts and using it as an excuse not to have to do things. Im too scared to go and have any more procedures done and am just suffering through it. Its nice to know Im not alone!

i have also been having these pains when i eat any red meat, any thing greasy fatty or fried. i then went to the er and they gave me a Morphein shot. i have been to the er like 4 times they finally had me go get an ultrasound and come to find out i have gallstones which cause a gallbladder attack which is really painful....i am going to get it removed this coming tuesday...hopefully i can go back to eating normal again..

I accidentally came across this forum and I am so wow'd by what I'm reading. I have been suffering with this debilitating stomach pain and spasming for many years. I've read all posts and there are so many similarities. It almost brought me to tears because honestly I've been concerned that it's me doing it to me because of anxiety, etc. No so. You all make me feel relieved. I've had most of the same tests that many of you have been through with no definitive diagnosis. Twice went through endoscopy only be told I had chronic gastritis. My instincts kept pointing me in the direction of the gallbladder. But the blood tests and sonogram came back negative for gallbladder issues, stones, etc. However, four of my siblings have had their gallbladders removed. So, still my gallbladder? Good luck to me in trying to get insurance to pay to have a gallbladder removed that science says has nothing wrong with it. My quest continues.

I'll just keep suffering until someone or something finds the fix. In the meantime, I wanted to share something that often, though not always, helps relieve the pain. I ALWAYS have ice cold water with me and usually when the pain starts if I take several small sips of COLD water I can sometimes keep the pain from flaring up to its worst. This doesn't always work, but usually it at least helps. Unfortunately, I am a slave to my water bottle - everywhere I go. Bit of an issue when I'm boarding a plane! At least I've found something that can ease the pain. Maybe some of you can find relief with small sips of ice cold water???? Note: I keep a bottle half full with water in the freezer and when I leave the house I fill it up the rest of the way. That way, if I need it the water is at its coldest.

I have the same issues. About 3 or 4 years ago I was coming off of Paxil and almost immediately after coming off of it I started noticing a lot of heart burn and these painful spasms. At the time I wasn't paying attention to what I had eaten that might have brought on the spasms/ pain. After all these years I have found that it most commonly happens when I eat eggs or something with a lot of egg in it. I have also had pain after drinking alcohol and eating foods with a lot of grains or nuts in them. My doctors were confused and I had a gastro dr. run all kinds of tests. I have been told so many things, it's duodenitis, its gerd, stress, etc. also that i have a sensitive or inflamed stomach. I had an upper GI, ultrasounds, tried many meds, nothing. Doctors don't know what it is and really don't act very concerned even though I tell them I am in extreme pain when it happens. The only things I have found that kind of help are to take a tagament or a zantac, found in the store over the counter, when the pain starts. They seem to help a little but i usually have to curl up in a ball in bed and wait it out. All the doctors I have been to don't seem to take me seriously. it's like they see that i was treated for depression and they assume that I am just having stress related symptoms. It's so frusterating but good to know I'm not alone.

Have your doctor check you for celiac-sprue. It is an intolerance to the protein gluten which can be found in wheat, rye, oats, malt & barley products. It is a hereditary disease which can be passed on to your children & can cause stunted growth & dwarfism. I didn't always get sick after eating something with gluten in it, but when I did have an attack, it was very painful. I'd rather go through labor all over again than this type of pain. My attacks would consist of cold sweats, hot flashes, severe abdominal & pelvic pain, back pain, pain down the legs, bloodshot eyes, vomiting & diarrhea and severe fatigue after the attack. A biopsy showed me to be negative, but a specialized blood panel showed me as being highly positive to celiac-sprue. It's made a world of difference in my life now that they diagnosed this, as I was very sick with attacks for 5 years before my doctor figured this out. I stick to a gluten-free diet & haven't had an attack in over 5 years.

With many of the same or similar symptoms as everyone seems to be talking about here I may be able to offer one more direction for others to investigate. I have been told by a gastroenterologist that what I am describing appears to be GE spasm, which is gastroesophageal spasm. This is caused by acid reflux and the damage the esophagus has sustained from the acid which can cause spasming in the esophagus. Additionally, in the area of the spasm, behind the esophagus are the nerve endings that run up and down the spinal column. When the esophagus spasms it can involve those nerve endings causing severe pain. The GI doctor especially likened the symptoms of GE spasm to often being very similar to the symptoms of a heart attack - severe pain in upper stomach and/or chest, pain down either or both arms, pain up in to the jaw, pain in back, etc. This information may be helpful for many of you other sufferers to present to your physicians as another avenue of investigation.

Hi. I have these same symptoms. All the tests were negative, but I talked the surgeon into removing my gallbladder anyway. They didn't find any stones but my gallbladder had lots of scar tissue from chronic inflammation. The pain in my side completely went away. But about a month after the surgery I noticed that if I eat eggs, pork loin, and sometimes salads, that I get a severe pain just below my stomach. After alot of experimentation I found 2 things that help. (1) Orange Juice taken as soon as the pain starts and (2) Maalox. The maalox only seems to work if I take it right before I eat one of these foods. Hope this may help some of you. Also don't take too much maalox or you will get bad diarrhea.

I have the same symptoms after I eat eggs. I saw that someone else has these symptoms and believes it is related to a type of protein in eggs. Does anyone know more of this? I've been to the dr and have just started a round of tests .. I'm guessing this is going to take quite some time to resolve. So far, it's just eggs that are the issue for me and the initial response I received from my dr is is to avoid eggs ...

I was searching the web for this problem and ran across this discussion which hasn't been updated since 11/20/06. Several people described similar symptoms on the web site, but none ever reported finding a cause or cure. My wife has the same symptoms mentioned in all of your posts. Did anyone ever find out the cause of these pains?
