Hi, I have pain in my face muscles. It often feels like aching and burning, and it’s very uncomfortable. I am afraid it could extend into the upper neck, and I don’t know what to do. Did anyone have the same problem?

Hello! You should ask your doctor about that. It seams to me like Atypical Facial Pain (ATFP), a condition with many different causes. However, the symptoms are usually the same-aching, burning and cramping. It happens that pain extends into the upper neck, or even to back of the scalp. Many things could cause this condition, like infected sinuses for example. Atypical Facial Pain is treated with Amitriptyline, Pamelor or Capsaicin. There is also a surgery, but it doesn’t help much with this condition. You should see a doctor as soon as possible, because this could lead to trigeminal neuralgia.
