Faking a negative test?

Someone told me its easy to fake a home pregnancy test to make it negative....why someone would want to make it negative, I don't know. Can something be done to the strip to make it come out negative when its actually positive? I'm not talking about hormone levels etc. I'm talking about something a person puts on it to make it show up negative?
