Hello! I have a brother who used to have problems with stuttering. A speech therapy helped him very much and now it is almost impossible to notice that he had any problems. Only sometimes, when he gets too excited, he may speed up few words. I am married and I plan to have a baby but I heard that stuttering can be inherited. I have a fear of stuttering.
Hello! There are many different factors that are believed to contribute to stuttering. But, it is not completely known what causes this disorder. I can say that genetics play a role and it is shown that more then 60 percent of people who stutter have a family member who also stutters. Also, I don’t think this should worry you too much since this is a minor disorder that can be successfully treated.
