My father was in a nursing home after surgery. He contracted a C-DIF infection that won't go away even with antibiotics. His doctor recommended a fecal transplant. The doctor explained that Dad's colon would be emptied and then fecal matter would be transplanted. What is a fecal transplant? Where does the transplanted matter come from? Was this a really bad April Fool's joke on me?
it IS what it sounds like. And Quite Necessary, in that setting. It's the treatment of choice for reoccurring cases. Only who would want to do it/talk about it/perform the procedure. I imagine you've already answered the where they gonna get some poop question; from a relative, hopefully.
