Fever in a patient with pyelonephritis?

Hi! Please, help me! My son has a fever and we notice that his urine changed color. I think that he probably has some kind of kidney infection. Now we are waiting for results of urine test. I remember that my friend told me about pyelonephritis. Is it dangerous and do patients with pyelonephritis have fever? Thank you!
