What do I have to know about the burn injury? My wife is about to deliver our baby and I am trying to learn as much as possible about how to react in certain situations. What about the fluid compensation? Is that also important? How is that done? Do you know?

Hmm, perhaps you should think about the incoming delivery at the moment and leave the burns for later. Anyway, fluid compensation is not something that can be done on the spot. Infusion is needed that will not only compensate for fluids, but for proteins, minerals and vitamins too. And it is a very important part of the burn healing.
