| The sensations disappeared within an hour after removing the computer (from my lap) and leaving the room. If anyone is sensitive to electromagnetic fields, then other EMF-emitting devices (tv's, phones, etc.) could contribute to the sensations. I obviously can't be sure yet if I attribute my symptoms to this, but it's worth considering and easy to keep testing. |

| I also had strange sensations on the left hand side of my chest over 6 months ago. I sweated a lot and felt incredibly tired and weak and fainty. I had gas etc. I had threadmill test for heart and other tests but they showed nothing. my doctor now thinks it might be to do with digestion and put me on some ulcer treatment which did help even though he said I did not have ulcers. Recently I found adding fibre to my diet has helped a lot with the fluttering. I think if you have a sensitive stomach, stress etc will make it worse. |

I became very weak and started sweating heavily.i spent 2 days in the hospital having a cat scan of my brain, chest xrays, all kinds of bloodwork, arteries in my neck scanned, thiroid checked and a nuclear stress test and nothing was found. this is driving me crazy I need to know what is causing this and get it fixed. my colesteral and trigliserides were a little high and i have high blood pressure but my entire stay in the hospital it was nearly perfect.I am currently wearing a 30 day moniter in hopes of finding what this is . |
Hello, I too found this thread searching about the buzzing sensation that comes and goes in my left upper chest muscle. Wondering how you have been doing since your 30-day monitoring. |

| I've had the fluttering sensation in my chest for a number of years now. I keep going to the doctor, they keep running all these tests and the only thing they came up with is that I have a heart murmur. So after hearing this diagnosis from my primary physician I decided to see a cardiologist for a second opinion. He said my heart is fine and sometimes its the electrical conduction of my heart triggering. This was 3 years ago. I find that when I drink caffeine, stressed or anxious, it comes more frequent (once a day lasting 5+ seconds vs. once a week). I'm in graduate school and it seems to be getting worse. I try not to worry about it too much but sometimes it is scary. Sometimes after the fluttering sensation my body gets weak, its like a shock to my system. They told me to have an Echo every 5 years b/c of the murmur, but i think I may have to go soon. ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY! |

| I am 50 and just started getting this flutter in my left chest area in the last week. Does anyone know what it is? I do not want to go to the doctor and would love to find out here first. |

I just thought I would add to this...
I am a 23 yr old woman w known diagnosis of multiple sclerosis but as of very recent, a lot of other very scary symptoms in my bones, muscles, and circulatory system have become more noticable and the docs are looking to other rheumatological conditions which could very well include vasculitis of somekind, but nothing is really being found yet.
This fluttering sensation has been pure madness for a few months now, probably stemming from a recent episode of costocondritis that means my whole ribcage and upper body was so inflamed I couldn't take a deep full breath for 3 weeks...
and for me that flutter it's associated with extreme weakness and spiking hypertension / burning muscles. I've said to my docs it "It feels like a rainstick sounds" Palpitations are constant and my resting readings are pretty much boarderline tachychardia but still fall within normal... pretty much. my heart just feels like it's having to work way too hard with very little exertion (shifting around in my chair, for instance)
I have a family history of autoimmune disorders and heart disease... I'm going to guess you all should very well take good care of yourselves and don't dismiss this sensation. Get the doctors to listen and if they don't, go find other doctors. I'm willing to bet that for me it's got something to do with abnormal autoimmune attack, but it's probably got to do specifically with the construction of the actual walls of the artery in the chest there, as in cartilage tissues and blood vessel membranes.
I swear I am not a doctor.... heh. if I get any updates I will let you know. |

I just thought I'd jump in on this too - I'm having what everybody here is describing ... fluttering in my chest over my left breast. Fluttering is a great way of putting it.... I've had this going on for the last year and always described it as "It feels like my chest is getting lighter and lighter and almost feels like it wants to fly away...." Fluttering.... much better. Anyway. I'm having one of those attacks right now.... too bad nobody knows what it really is....... I got myself hooked up to a machine last year and they said my heart was fine -
Just to help anybody here line themselves up - I'm male, 30, 6'3 and and weigh 190. I do about 3 hours of cardio a week), Work at a desk (on computers) all day. Lots of vitamens (Multi, Flax Seed, Folic Acid, Apple Cider, D, and Selenium. Eat semi healthy (lots of spinach) and semi unhealthy (lots of microwave dinners). Did a bunch of drugs when I was young, stay away from them now. I drink about once a month (if that).
While writing this ramble the pain has subsided... (it's not really pain though.... it just kinda tingles and then makes me worried)....... I guess I'm not alone... too bad there aren't any answers on it. |

| There was another great post on here that hasn't answered what might be wrong with me, but after some reading and research I'm going to try and cut caffeine out of my diet, introduce some B-Complex and some Q10 into my daily vitamin habits. I also have some blood work getting done this week (after I turned 30 I figured it was about time to get the typical physical). Seems to be a lot of talk in here about the thyroid so I'll see if I can get that checked out too. I'll post back once to tell you how cutting coffee out and adding some B-Complex to my diet helps...... hooo boy... no more coffee.... 30 is way to young to be cutting that out...... oh well.... |

Posted: 05/11/08 - 16:31 Post subject: Vibrating in chest area |
|
|
| I'm a 35 yr old female. I've been having a vibrating feeling in my chest area for 4 months now. EKG, holter monitor, echocardiogram tests are all normal. I think it may be caused by my nervous system. Maybe the vagus nerve? I do feel my heart pounding also. And have had heart arrythmias (skipped, or extra beats) at times. Tachycadia. Also experienced numbness and tingling in my right leg, lightheaded, feels like I'm not getting enough oxygen at times. My blood test did show very low vitamin D level. It's a mystery. I haven't seen a neurologist but I would like to get an MRI of my brain. The vibrating keeps me up at night along with the pounding heart beat. There is also something called Dysautonomia. It's a disorder of the autonomic nervous system. Seem I have alot of these symptoms. |
