Hi, I was diagnosed with Gastritis two days ago, have been on Prevacid (1 daily) since. I had an attack the first night I took one--it lasted 3 hours, I walked the floor in pain (burning over the entire stomach area) and especially in the mid area above the navel and thru to the back! It made me cry off and on. I called the med. exchange, was told by the nurse to go to E.R. and would have but by the time I got the call back, the pain was down to a '3 on scale of 10. I called my doctor next day and was advised to use my judgement on taking the Prevacid (he doesn't think that's causing it) and to go to E.R. if the pain is that bad again.
In the meantime, I've gotten relief from the terrible burning but the discomfort in the midsection comes and goes (thru to the back). I'm upper 60's and don't have a gallbladder! I'm 50 lbs. overweight, but have lost 34 on W.W. recently. I walk daily and am in good health. This hit a week ago after a day long bout with diarrhea! Anyone here that can offer any help or comments? thanks. I even wonder about pancreatitis! I sure hope not! |
