Generalized Seizures vs Epilepsy?

Hi. My brother had a seizure. He thought he was epileptic, but the doc said it was non-epileptic seizure. So… generalized seizures Vs epilepsy…. Any thoughts on that?

Hi. Yeah, you have generalized seizures and epileptic seizures. Persons with epilepsy have epileptic seizures. Persons with non-epileptic attack disorder have non-epileptic seizures. People with NES can`t usually control their seizures. People with NES don`t treat their condition with anti-epileptic drugs. Non-epileptic and epileptic seizures are very similar. I think the only difference is when you have an epileptic seizure you pass out. Epilepsy is characterized with recurrent unprovoked seizures. To diagnose epilepsy, EEG, brain MRI, PET, SPECT and magnetoencephalography may be helpful. However, the only solid base for epilepsy diagnosis is long-term video EEG monitoring.
