Hi! I desperately need some information about Borderline Personality Disorder. I don’t know too much about this disorder. My mother told me that my grandma had some kind of this disorder. Now I’m wondering can I have this illness because somebody in my family had it. Do I need to worry? Thanks!
I read somewhere that BPD is about five times more common among first-degree biological relatives of those with the disorder than in the general population. Both environmental and genetic factors are thought to play a role in predisposing patients to BPD symptoms. Unfortunately, you may be at a higher risk if a close family member has this disorder.
