Hello,
I am pregnant 14 weeks and am reading these mother and baby magazines. I read something abut gestational diabetes, which is supposed to be connected to high blood sugar. I have high blood sugar and am afraid I have this disorder. I never actually had diabetes, but I am afraid I could get one now...
Hello!
Here is definition of gestational diabetes: pregnant women who have never had diabetes before but have high blood sugar (glucose) levels during pregnancy are said to have gestational diabetes. It affects about 4 % of all pregnant women in US. Scientists are not sure, but think that Gestational Diabetes starts when body is not able to make and use all the insulin it needs for pregnancy. It would be best to consult with doctor.
