Getting rid of hemorrhoids

Hi, can anyone tell me what treatment is best for hemorrhoids? Basically, rubber band ligation and cryosurgery are my options. Has anybody gotten these done? What is the pain level like for each one? And which will yield better results?

I had rubber band ligation. There was no pain involved. They just put the rubber around the hemorrhoid and it fell off.

What kind of instrument was used? The traditional metal clamp kind or something newer, maybe smaller instrument?
