Girlfriend having vaginal itch and spot bleeding

Hello, My girlfriend is suffering from what pretty much fits the thrush profile, Only something slightly odd is she also has vaginal bleeding and its coming from on the vagina rather than from inside (we know because she had a tampon in and still found spot blood in her underware...)

Does anyone have any idea what this might be?.

We are slightly worried it could be an STD but can't work out how or where either one of us would have caught it as we have been happerly together for 3 years... It has only just started happening for the last week.

She started taking anti-biotics thinking it might be some minor infection, Then she got itch - So she has just started taking thrush tablets.

Could thrush cause the spot bleeding also?

Any information would be appreciated.
