Goal of the treatment for chronic bronchitis?

After many years of smoking I have developed chronic bronchitis. Coughs, breathlessness and chest pain are regularities in my life. My doctor gave me the discouraging news regarding the cure for this disease. Since there is no cure for it, what is the goal of the treatment for chronic bronchitis?

Hi! As you might have guessed, the goal is to alleviate the symptoms you have listed and which are discomforting to say the least. If any bacterial infection is detected, prompt treatment with antibiotics is of utmost importance. This should ease the symptoms, and may help slow the deterioration of the disease.
