Hello,
I need advice. My father (64) is having really itchy skin on his trunk and my mum believes that’s Grover's Disease, claiming her dad had it too. I think my father is going to the doctor today because he can’t take the itching anymore. What is grover's Disease? Is it dangerous? Will he get better in a few days?

Maybe your father has Grover's Disease, but not necessary… the best is to visit dermatologist. If he has Grover's Disease he will have at least 6 months to 1 year treatment, in severe cases even more. Depends on the level of Grover's Disease. Minor outbreaks of Grover's Disease can be controlled with prescription of cortisone creams. But more troubling eruptions usually clear up after taking Tetracycline pills for one to three months. If these fail or the outbreak is severe, then PUVA phototherapy treatment is necessary, and perhaps the alternatives are antifungal pills and cortisone injections. PUVA treatment has almost no side- effects (some nausea and dizziness), but all people with Grover's Disease, exposed to PUVA treatment get darkening of the skin.
