Hi. I have my guideline for buying vitamins. I use supplements, and always check the supplement label. I avoid mega-doses and I always store supplements in a dry, cool place. Needs for vitamins vary, according to sex, age and life events (pregnant women, elderly citizens, teens). Some optimal intakes are: vitamin A 1500mcg RE, beta carotene 10-130mg, thiamin 5-10mg, riboflavin 5-10mg, niacin 10-100mg, vitamin B6 2-50mg, B12 11-100mg, pantothenic acid 10mg, biotin 30-300mg, folic acid 400mcg, vitamin C 100-1000mg, D 100-600 IU, E 650500mg alpha TE, vitamin K 60-300mcg, boron 2-7mg, and calcium 1200-1500mg.
