HCT and HGB blood work abnormally low

I had to take my son to the doctor. Lately he had very bad appetite. Also he is very pail and he refuses to go out and play football saying that he is too tired. He is 10 years old, he is not supposed to be tired for playing. I knew something was wrong. He went to a blood test. My neighbor told me that his HCT and HGB are abnormally low but he didn't explain me what it is or what it means. Can you tell me?

I will try to help but you should know that I am not professional. HCT is hematocrit and it shows the percentage of red blood cells in the blood. HGB is hemoglobin which is the part of red blood cells and he is used to carry oxygen. Iron is essential for hemoglobin making. Low levels of these indicators in blood probably show the presence of anemia.
