HELP! Started birthcontrol a week and a half after period

Started birthcontrol-nuvaring a week and a half after period.... when can i have unprotected sex??? It says you should start it the day you start your persiod, or 2 to 5 days after, and if u start it 2 to 5 days after, you should use a extra way of birth crontol like condoms. I was thinking i would let the ring be in for the 3 weeks, have my period(wich would be a week and a half after i usually have it) and insert a new ring a week after i removed it, and then i'd be alright. Right? idk, i called their hotline, and it sucked. Any ideas????

also....does birthcontol regulate or chnage your period? Like since i started the b-c on the 25th and the last day of my period was the 15th...would i get it again on the 15th of this month when i remove the ring?
