I'm a dental hygienist and my 9 year old son gets tonsil stones (in hindsight, I remember dealing with them as a kid, but never new what they were). I have a lot of luck removing them by using a 'rubber tip' or 'gum stimulator' that you can buy at any pharmacy, in the dental care section of the store. I'm also able to remove them with a very narrow tip saliva ejector (surgical type) at work! If you happen to have tonsil stones when you go in for a cleaning, maybe your dentist or hygienist can help remove them this way!
