Hair loss after coming off the pill

I have been on Marvelon since the age of 16. I stopped taking it 8 months ago (now aged 35) and I now have half the thickness of hair that I had when on the pill. My hair is broken, extremely dry and extremely thin. I have had blood tests to check for anaemia, thyroid and diabetes and they were all clear. I have started taking Nourkrin tablets but it's obviously going to take months to see any results. Is this a common side-effect of stopping the pill ?
