Well I have been searching the internet for answers to questions that my daughter has regarding her health. Six months ago my daughter gave birth to her first child. A bit of a struggle for a big baby but over all her health and the baby's health was fine.
Now, we are in our seventh maybe eighth waiting period for results from a visit to the doctor. She started losing alot of hair and decided to ask the doctor when she became afraid to even wash or brush her hair because handfuls were now falling out. The front of her head is thinning quickly. Initially the doctors told her it was normal to lose a bit of hair especially after a pregnancy. Then she started taking the hair that came out with her and they confirmed it was too much to be losing. So they started doing blood tests and urine tests. So far the only results that came back was that her iron was low. Today, when she was breast feeding her baby she noticed some blood on her son's face. The blood was coming from her breast.
Now, to understand the worry and quiet panic we have, as she went to examine the origin of the bleeding she also carried a large ball of hair from the previous brushing. She also has not recieved her period this month and she is not pregnant.
As her mother, I am so worried about what is going on with her. I am worried about her health. I pray it is nothing but we cannot get the comfort of knowing from the doctors so far.
What questions should we be asking? What tests should she be doing? To date we are awaiting a thyroid test. Are there any preventative measures we could be taking? Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences similar to this.
Any comfort or guidance would be greatly appreciated. |

| Hi there! I am very sorry you are going through rough times. I see you are waiting for the thyroid tests and this is exactly what I wanted to mention. Hyperthyroidism is common after pregnancy and losing hair and hand sweating is one of the signs. As far as I know, the only way to fix hyperthyroid is by taking drugs although I hear some people have been trying to find some alternative ways. |
