It is so nice to know there are other women out there in the same shoes as I am in. I have been TTC since October of 2005 and had a M/C in December of 2007. I am on day 20 of my first cycle using Femara and I just talked to the dr and she said my progesterone levels were great and it looks like I ovulated!!! YAY!! I just hope everything else went right and there is a baby in there!
Good luck to everyone!

I was told a fews years back I had PCOS...I got knocked up when I was 18...senior in high school... Shocked ....needless to say it wasn't planned..and my family was not happy!!! I had my son @ 26 wks....that was 13 years ago...and he is my life!!! But 10 yrs ago I got married and wanted more children....tried and TRIED..nothing..I was over weight...they told me to lose some weight and I would ovulate...I lost 60 lbs...I'm down to 140 lbs....for 2 yrs NOTHING!! I did 4 rounds of clomid starting @ 50 mg..up to 150 mg. My progesterone level never went up..the highest was 5.5!!!The ONLY thing it did was make me bitchy...it also made my peroid reg...every 35 days on the dot. I have NEVER had that... I would go months without one b4. Now my DR put me one Fermara 5mg-day 5-9. Am I wasn't my time?? It's really making me a wreck..waiting evey month...I would LOVE to hear some others storys!!! I don't know anyone going through something like this!!

PostPosted: 06/01/08 - 20:00    Post subject: Femara; Infertility Vote now! Reply with quote

I have stumbled across this message board a couple of times during my research on infertility and femara. It was a comfort to read that others were having the same struggles that I was, and so I hope that my situation will give others hope.

I am 24 and have been trying to get pregnant for over a year. I have PCOS and am slightly overweight. Without medication, I do not have regular periods. I think I had like 2 in 6 months last year, so my doctor put me on Clomid. I did a few rounds at a low dose before I started seeing an infertility specialist. She bumped my dose of Clomid way up, and I started testing for ovulation. I used test strips from early-pregnancy-tests and they detect the LH hormon surge, which happens before you ovulate. This was best for me as my cycles are always irregular and so it didn't help to chart my BBT to know when ovulation was over. Anyway, after 4-5 rounds on a high dose of clomid, no pregnancy, even though I was ovulating.

Last month, my doctor decided to try me on Femara. I took it on CD 5-9 and still did the LH testing, but never got a clearly positive result. My husband and I had intercourse anyway on the days I got a slightly pink line, thinking that it wouldn't hurt. After waiting about 5 days from around the day my period should have come, I took a test and it was positive!! I couldn't believe it. I felt like I was losing hope and I was so frustrated because it seemed like people were becoming pregnant and having babies all around me.

The point is, keep the faith. I'm totally behind femara now. It was a miracle for us. Good luck to all. I hope you all have your own "success" stories on here soon!

I have PCOS and have been on metformin for 6 years. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 4 years with no sucess. I have tried clomid three separate times (each after giving up for several months at a time). A co-worker of mine started taking femera and ovulated on her first month. I decided to give it a try. Tomorrow is day 10 for me and I am hoping it works. Wish me luck.

I don't know whats worse the not knowing anything about the problems my body is having in conceiving or the waiting every month to see if I'm finally pregnant. I am 34 and have been married to my DH for 8 years whose 30 and a United States Marine needless to say we had a little trouble conceiving our first child (now 5). He was gone from home a lot and I was never regular with AF. We basically threatened my body to see and specialist and the next thing you know I'm talking to the doctor about his plan for testing and boom before we even get started I'm pregnant.

Now its been 5 years without any contraceptives except deployments and I'm wondering why we aren't getting pregnant. We are at a different duty station now and this one refers to actual specialists. I have found that I have a cyst but my Dr has told me not to worry. I haven't been classified with PCOS but when reading up on it I have almost every symptom of it. I am overweight (during pregnancy 1 I gained and cannot for the life of me lose any of it). I have never had a normal cycle and that just to mention a few of my problems...

My last specialist appointment I was placed on Prometrium 200mg twice daily (vaginally), Metformin 500mg three times a day, and Femara 2.5mg once a day days 5-9. I've completed all of the meds so far but I will start my first cycle of Femara tomorrow. I have to say I haven't always been a pill popper but I'm trying anything to get me pregnant one last time.

I have read everyone's stories and I'm hoping to have a much success as everyone else here...I wish all of you ladies and gents much happiness and tons of baby dust luck....*****Sprinkles******

I am so thankful I have found this mesage board. I have been with my dh going on 10 years now, with at least 9 of them with no contraceptive at all. I have never been pregnant. I did try 3 months of clomid a couple of years ago, with no ovulation. I went back to my fertility doctor to try it again, and she gave me femara instead. She was very upbeat about the drug, and has alot of success with it. I had to take provera to have a cycle, but am now on day three and just took my first dose of femara. I pray it works. I had to have surgery to remove a begnign tumor from my left fallopian tube when I was 17, so I only have one fallopian tube, so if I ovulate on the left, it won't do anything...I pray my right ovary is strong Smile Thank you all for the words of encouragement, it means alot...

PostPosted: 06/22/08 - 16:39    Post subject: 4yrs of trying; PCOS w/one tube and just started Femara Vote now! Reply with quote

I'm so glad that I came across this message board. Never imagined that I'd actually post but this site seems to be very informative and inspirational.

I'm 32yrs old, married 7yrs ago to the man of my dreams, and keeping the faith that one day we too will be blessed with a healthy baby(ies) soon! Always new that I had irregular periods but my doctors didn't diagnose me with PCOS until 4yrs when we decided to start a family.

After a terrible experience with a fertility specialist, I got pregnant with twins with Glonal F and IUI (Clomid NEVER worked for me!). Missed carried the first baby at 6.5 weeks and didn't even realize that there was another baby... until the 8th week when I was rushed to the hospital for an emergency laproscopy.. my right tube had ruptured. The fertility specialist screwed up since they were still monitoring me and couldn't figure out why my levels were still high...

But that was 3.5yrs ago ... I was introduced to my current fertility specialist who I completed trust! She and her husband have a private clinic in Manhattan and she's a professor at NYU so is up-to-date on the latest medications and treatments available! We tried Clomid again... it didn't work so we tried IVF cycle and no luck. There is no explanation as to why it didn't work except that my ovaries were overstimulated and may have rejected the embryos.

That brings me to where I am now... after 2yrs of not taking any medications except for 750mg Metformin daily, prenatal pills, losing 20lbs on Weight Watchers (so now 110lbs) and going to acupuncture 2x a week and no luck trying on our own... we focused on moving out of Manhattan for the suburbans which is so relaxing and fun decorating. We're now settled and focused on trying again!

Met with the doctor on June 5th, put on Provera for 10 days, started 2.5mg/day Femara on Day 1 (yesterday!) ... still taking 750mg Metformin, prenatals and watching my diet and exercise. Will stay on Femara until Day 7 then going in for a dr visit; starting Climara patch on Day 8 then we'll take it from there. Praying that we have some positive results with Femara!! Stay Positive!!!!

PostPosted: 06/26/08 - 15:53    Post subject: PCOS, Endometreosis, & Tilted Uteris Vote now! Reply with quote

I got pregnant with my first child when I was 22 with no problems. My husband and I decided that when she was around four that we would start trying for another child. I stopped taking my bc pills in Aug06 to have only one mc and then missing the next two. I went to see my OB b/c I had recently been diagnosed with PCOS. I am not overweight and do not meet some of the classic symptoms for PCOS. I also have a tilted uteris which can lead to some difficulty getting pregnant. Started provera to get the mc going. Then I would have a mc then not have one. Feb07 I started the Femara 2.5mgx2 3-7. Then I would go to do a progesterone check on cd20. The first few cycles I didn't ovulate but then my levels started to rise. I have never had luck with the ovulation kits so I strictly went by my progesterone results. Several months later I did the HSG to check my tubes--all clear. My husband was checked--olympian swimmers. During this time six people pregnant I knew--tough times. During this whole ordeal I had gall bladder surgery & the OB went in to look & found stage 2 enodmetreosis.
I had been on the Femara for 1 1/2 years when in Mar08 I found out that I was pregnant. Went back two days later to check my HCG levels & they were dropping & I miscarried.
So here we are three months later did my Femara cd3-7, now on day 13. Being optimistic---got a good feeling about this time around. I have come to terms with the fact that I might not ever have another child. I am truly okay with that knowing that I have one wonderful blessing in my life. Good luck to everyone...I know your struggles.
