Hello everyone, last month was my first time using Femara at 2.5mg for cycle 3-7. My progest was 6.8, previous month it was 6.2 w/out drugs. So tomorrow I start at 5mg for 5 days. Hope to see a smiley face on the stick.
Good Luck to all

I saw this thread and wanted to share that I conceived using Femara last May. We had no problems conceiving our first child, but tried for 1 1/2 years with our second. I took Femara for 3 cycles and conceived the third time. Delivered our healthy little girl two months ago.
Regarding the warnings of the drug, one thing that my doctor explained is that you take the drug at the beginning of your cycle for only 5 days. By the time you conceive, the drug is out of your system. You don't take the drug again unless you menstruate. So, technically you are never pregnant while taking the drug.
I think I only experienced hot flashes as a symptom--nothing too terrible.
Good luck everyone and best wishes for healthy babies! |

| I used femara after trying to get pregnant for 3 years. Have a 5 yr old son who was conceived easily. After laps, hsgs, clomid, progesterone, iui's and tons of other stuff, Femara worked first month. It is a long journey, but worth every minute in the end. |

Hey ladies!
I am a 26 yr old female, suffering from our friend PCOS, very severe case. My husband and I have been married 4 years, no luck in pregnancy. January of this year, we started getting assistance from a fertility doc. I am now on my second try with the drug Femara (letrazol). The first time, I did not ovulate. This time, I am on a higher dosage. I also had an HSG test, which revealed my left fallopian tube is closed. I have many obstacles and this has been a crazy rollercoaster. I start my second round on Femara today...........I will test with ovulation sticks day 9-18. WISH ME LUCK! |

WHAT DAYS DID YOU TAKE YOUR FEMARA AND GONAL F? i'M ON FEMARA NOW AND WANT TO FINISH MY GONAL F FROM MY LAST FAILED CYCLE, BUT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT DAY TO TAKE IT.
| madeaver wrote: | I'm so excited to have found this forum. I'm 25, and I was diagnosed with atypical PCOS in 2005. Basically my only symptoms were irregular menstrual cycles and after ultrasound the typical "pearl"-like ovaries. I'm not overweight and not insulin resistant. Because of these things I did not respond to clomid at all, and of course and diabetes medications were not going to do a thing for me.
After two rounds with Clomid, I did a cycle using Gonal-F (FSH) injections for about 10 days followed by a shot of Ovidrel (HCG). After treatment we did an IUI and two weeks later we were pregnant. Unfortunately the pregnancy did not continue and we had to have a D&C in December of 2005.
We put the fertility on hold for a while, and now we're back in the saddle. We've moved since then and have a new doctor and we're about to start our first cycle. We'll be taking 5mg of Femara on days 3-7 followed by Gonal-F injections, an HCG shot and an IUI. I've been reading up on Femara and am really excited about the possibilities. From what I read, Femara (as compared with Clomid) causes the uterine lining to become thicker, thus increasing the chances of maintaining a pregnancy, which may have been my problem last time. I begin the Femara on the 26th, and I am just ready to get started.
FYI* For those of you skeptical about Femara and pregnancy. . .
When taking Femara for fertility treatment, you are only using it for 5 days, and those 5 days are weeks before you actually conceive, and Femara is rapidly excreted from the body. It is only a problem when you take it WHILE pregnant.
Keep your faith up - God is faithful! |

| I just wanted to let everyone know that I took Femera 2.5 days 3-5 of my cycle and only got a 8 for my ovulation count. So my dr. doubled my dose for the next month. I was about 3 days late on my period which is not unusual for me but I hoped!!! Guess what I am now 7 week preg. We are so excited. Have faith in Femera it works! My husband and I have been tring for 15 months with no luck until now. Also I have sever endometriosis. My Dr. said it was the worst she had seen on someone so young. I had 2 surgurys and lupron at 23. SHe also had to glue my overy back into place. I feel like it is a mircle with my medical problems that we are preg. Don't give up!!! Good Luck |

I've been reading this post for quite a few months now as it relieves a lot of stress from the pregnancy process. I thought it was about time I add my situation.
I was recently (Nov 07) diagnosed with PCOS. In November I started taking 2.5mg of Femara on days 3-7. I did 3 cycles with no luck. Due to a mix up with a lab technician, I was unaware I was to go in on day 21 of every cycle to have ovulation measured until my last visit (which was just a few weeks ago).
My OB/GYN put me on Metformin 500mg 3 times daily as blood work showed that I was insulin resistant. She also upped my Femara to 5mg days 3 through 7. I also take Provera to jump start my period since I usually go months without one.
I have about 8-10 days before I start my next round of Femara, but I will keep everyone posted on how it works. I've heard/read that 5mg usually does the trick, but we are trying our best not to get our hopes up too high.
Good luck to all you ladies and fellas having problems. The struggle makes everything that more precious when it finally happens. |
