I have been taking this medication for 3 years. I missed some tablets and felt okay. It turned into a week. The withdrawal symptoms were horrible. I felt like my whole body was somewhere else. My stomach felt like it was going to explode and I felt faint every minute of every day. Has anyone else had any similar experiences.

i have been using lexapro because it is what my doctor put me on when I was pregnant. Since I have had my daughter my doctor and I decided to up my does and I gained 20 lbs. So on my own I decided I would stop taking it and since then I feel like a zombie. I am dizzie all the time, I can not focus on anything or concentrate. And I am sleeply all day.

Have you had the same problems?

Your doctor should have told you to step down your dosage to avoid withdrawal symptoms. You should NEVER ever stop an SSRI without lowering the dose gradually.

...I quit three antipsychotics and had somewhat similar problems, feeling dizzy and having a painful stomach...I have to take stomach meds now, (started on the fifth or sixth week of being off my meds) it's now the eighth or nineth week afterwards, and I still can't eat much without getting sick...so far soups with noodles, noodles, and salads/vegetables seem to be the only things I can eat without getting totally sick...I am taking Lexapro, and I don't learn first hand what would happen to me if I suddenly stopped taking it...

You guys need to go see your psychiatrist immediately, stopping taking some meds can give you seizures, I was lucky I didn't get those, because seizures cause permanent brain damage! So please get an appointment as soon as possible!

i am so glad to have ran across this info. i have had a 2 month lapse of insurance and have been without lexapro for 3 weeks now. i keep getting serious dizzy spells every few minutes. i wasn't sure if it was related to the lexapro or not but was getting really worried. at least i know i'm not suffering from something else and once i get back on my meds i should be alright. Very Happy
