| Hi, few days ago I have become very nervous and depressed. My period is very late and, on top of that, it seams that there is an irritation developed on my vagina. This all is making me very nervous. I havent yet seen a doctor. Could I be having nervous breakdown? |

| Hi, first of all you must calm yourself. The symptoms you are experiencing, late period and irritation of vagina, consist with menopause. It is not unusual that these symptoms can make you feel nervous and even depressed. Also, menopause is caused by imbalanced female hormones that can also affect the way you feel. Apparently, you are looking for an answer in the wrong place. You, I am sure, are not having a nervous breakdown. It is true that menopause may not allow you to function normally on daily basis and you may feel you are having a nervous breakdown, but it is not that simple. When you hit menopause depression and anxiety come in to your life suddenly. This is an overwhelming experience for some women and they feel like you do. There is no medical definition for nervous breakdown but the person can benefit very much from professional treatment. I suggest you see a doctor as soon as possible so that the estimation of the situation can be done. |
