Having pain in lower stomach and also have white slimy stuff

I'm 16 and I get this white slimy stuff in my underwear but my mom says it's normal my period is just about to come on....I dont know what to so b/c not is there white slimy stuff coming out of my virgina, I also get little pains in my lower stomach
