Hello there

Ive been hearing voices in my head for a year now. I also see a girl. I have an eating disorder and she taunts me about my weight and body, calling me names and making me cut myself.
Im scared that she will soon be urging me to kill myself she has done it before and almost succeeded in it.

Im really scared can anyone tell me whats wrong with me?

Hi loopylady,

Have you ever been treated for bulimia? This is certainly something that needs to be addressed by a professional. I have a friend who suffered from bulimia and she also had problems with paranoia and hallucinations. She always thought someone was after her, wanting to harm her.

From what I have been reading, Hearing Voices occurs due to extreme malnutrition or dehydration, or some other underlying psychiatric condition. It is essential you talked to your doctor if you haven’t already. Such things need to be addressed with medications or even hospitalization.

I remember my friend had ups and downs and had to go to the hospital a few times. She lives abroad and I don’t know the details but when she was on medications, she was ok.

The problem is that these drugs could cause weight gain which is what put her in this situation in the first place.

Let us know what’s going on with you and if you have ever seen doctors about your condition. Do you have support from your family and friends?

Yes, I believe it must be frightening. Have you had any behavioral therapies like talking to a psychiatrist about the things you've been seeing, understanding they are not real and things like that.

How's school going for you? Have you ever been hospitalized?
