Heart Palpatation, Dizziness, and Ritalin

I'm a long time (ten years off and on) user (prescribed by a dr.) user of Ritalin for ADD. I also, in the past, have used diet pills for weight loss. I have never used these drugs at the same time. As much as I hate to admit it, I enjoyed my ritalin. I enjoyed being alert and able to get things done. I enjoyed it keeping me from the refrigerator. I was on a high dose daily on top of loads of diet coke. Anyway, I just quit everything 2 weeks ago. Cold turkey because I started having these weird flutters in my heart. My heart would race and my blood pressure would skyrocket for no reason. I could be sitting and watching TV and, boom, my face feel flushed and my BP would be pounding. Plus vertigo would come over me at any given moment. I really felt truly faint. I would feel cold and the world would go sideways. I never lost consciousness though. I went to the ER 2 times and everything checked out ok. I had a thyroid panel, blood work to check all hormones and all was normal. Had a scan of all my gastrointestinal organs because a dr though it could be gallbladder. Everything was normal. Now I've been to see a cardiologist. He's got an echo scheduled for me in a couple of weeks. My family looks at me like I'm a hypochondriac but I really feel like I'm going to die sometimes. They don't know about the meds I've been on all these years. The ER doc said it was anxiety attacks but I'm not so sure. Do you think it's my body adjusting to life without stimulants? Has anyone ever stopped taking Ritalin or any another drug after a long time of use? What were your symptoms?

I have the same symptoms; flush face and sudden dizziness. what do u do about it?
