It's so interesting to read all of this. I too suffer from these annoying flutters. It is so bothersome. I find after a stressful day they come on as soon as I sit down to rest. Then when they start, I start to get worried and it snowballs. Also, does anyone feel like the center of there chest flutters, like little tiny bubbles popping? And sometimes I feel that choking sensation in my throat, like something is stuck. I suffer from Panic disorder and I am currently seeing my cardiologist who feels it's a combination of stress and hormones and is totally not concerned at all.
Good luck to everyone! |

Hi,
I found this topic through a google search of my symptoms and after reading the comments i feel a little better and just want others to know they are not alone. I'm 31 male, I have been having palpitations for about 4 years now. I began having panic attacks about 2 and a half years ago. I really haven't had a full blown panic attack in almost 2 years but I still get symptoms all the time. My symptoms have included palpitations, pounding heart, chest pain, tightness in chest, random pains throughout my body, and probably all the anxiety/ panic symptoms you could have. I still see my doctor regularly but haven't had an ekg in almost 2 years, I had several in a month at the onset of my problems. After all tests came back negative, I eventually just started living with the symptoms as doctors told me there was nothing wrong with my heart. Just recently I started having a cough that I actually feel is stress related, and I also feel an almost constant shortness of breath feeling. I am worried about this now and feel like I'm about to start falling apart again. I actualy saw my doctor about a month ago when these new symptoms started happening. I told him I feel a shortness of breath and coughing. He attributed it to allergies and did not seem concerned. So he gave me something for my nose and sent me home. Hope this helps others with similar problems. |

| Get your thyroid checked. Hyperthyroidism causes flutters big time. |

| I'm an 18 yr old female and I've also had problems with my heart like the first man said. My Dr also told me it was stress related or just in my head. My heart isn't like most peoples. It beats slower. When i'm at rest you can barely find it at all. I have the same symptoms as the first guy but i never get the urge to cough and my symptoms happen both when i'm active or at rest. I don't have any pain but it's still very annoying. So far as I've read no one knows what it could be nor will drs say. So i guess we're just odd balls that no one listens to. |

I know there are people out there like me who are researching trying to get to the bottom of whats going on when you feel these strange feelings. I have been getting them since my early twenties and I'm 35 now, heres what I learned, my understanding is that if you have one DONT FREAK OUT! what happens is that your body will send adrenaline to your heart and it will make it worst making your heart pump faster (fight or flight). I have flutters and palpitations and the best thing I can do for myself is take a shot of liquid B12 (1000 mcg'c) under the tongue for a count of 10 seconds, swallow, and breathe deep a few times slowly. Keep yourself busy too... dont think about the problem...unless ofcourse if you feel pains, fullness in the chest, fever, shortness of breath, fainting etc. < in that case call 911 NOW! I still fear the worst when I get them, deathly afraid of dying too young...blah, blah,blah...the fact is (as mentioed above is that 1000's of us have them and they are mostly harmless and normal. I have gotten EKG's and a few months ago I had bloodwork done, they found nothing, and I had one tonight after dinner....flutter,flutter.....anyhow To keep my story short...go to GNC and ask them for liquid B12, start by taking 1/2 a dropper under the tonge as I mentioned, take deep breath's and in 15 min's you will feel invincible! if 1/2 a dropper does not work take a full dropper, B12 is one of the most safest vitamin's in the world you can take it in larger quantities and not overdose or become toxic. If you like red wine get a nice French Bordeaux ( I go to Trader Joe's here in California and I always find great ones for under $6.00 a bottle ), have a glass a day (it's good for the heart)....and drink lot's of water, get at least 30 min's of cardio a day, have a 50 min. massage at the end of every month (I'm a massage therapist). E-mail me for further suggestions, I'm full of them...and we can all make eachother better by keeping in touch (pen pals?) and talk about things when they get difficult or scary.
Peace and good health.

| OMEGA 3's (fish) , Potassium (Bananas), and weight control are also good ideas. |

| hmm, i'm 19, 5'11 160lbs in great shape, and have done sports all my life including soccer and cross country and track (lots of running) I have no problem exerting myself (I remember checking my pulse at practice once and it was up to 200 I obviously felt tired, but still completely normal and fine), i've been experiencing this for i dunno, at least 4 years now? it's always when i'm at resting heart rate, i get the fluttery feeling and my heart starts racing, and i feel short of breath. I've never once felt like coughing though. I always used to think that what it was, was that i somehow "forgot to breath" because it used to only happen when i was trying to sleep, i think it may have woken me up a few times, but i'm not sure. It never lasts more than 5-15 seconds, maybe a time or two a month at most, and the number of occurrences seems to very very slowly be increasing. I don't think i have any sort of panic disorder, i'm never anxious or nervous when it happens, it's always completely random. I'm really not sure what to do about it. |

| I'm 47 and had a few of these recently. They called it PVC. We also found that my potassium level was low and we are working to regulate that--as the one person commented. Hi and low potassium levels can effect this condition, as well as the stress and worry everyone else has mentioned. |
