I have been using addictive substances (narcotics and drugs) for a long time. I also drink alcohol. I have lost my appetite and weight, I live in hell. How can I get off narcotics, drugs and alcohol? What does the treatment look like? Please help me.

Hi. I was addicted too and my doctor prescribed me something not so strong to reduce the substance. If you stop at once, the problem will worsen up. Also, the risk that you will start again always exists. I`m still scared of becoming an addict again. You may not succeed to stop at once, but don't give up, that is the most important thing. Treatment program includes conversations, behavioral therapy and meds. The first thing waiting for you is a detoxification treatment, in clinic or home, depends on the case. Some say that stabilizing the addiction is more effective than total detoxification, but, for me, it was the better choice. Behavioral therapy is to change your feelings and thoughts. You have group, family, and self-help groups. Forced treatment is never an option, it`s got to be your call.

I need help so badly! First I had to take myself off of Effexor XR 225mgs, because the doctors thought that I was highly depresssed but I have been trying to tell them that I am sick of feeling sick being on the Duragesic Patch since May/06 at 150mg.
I have been in and out of the hospital as I am so nausea that I keep getting dehydrated so they need to put me in there. What can I do for this terrible nausea. I am down to 37mgs. but I feel just as bad coming off at this dose than to be at 150mgs. I just want to be myself again. I know the duragesic patch helped my chronic pain but I never felt good since the day I was on the patch. Please anybody help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As I am ready to give up!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know my body needs to get off of these drugs so if you have other drugs that would help me that wouldn't have so many side effects please let me know. |
