Help me to undertands what hematoma is when found giving blo

I have a daughter in college and she attempted to give blood, as she has done in the past with no problem and was told that she had a hematoma and could not give and may not ever be able to give again. Is this a serious problem or is it generally resolved and not giving blood a preventive solution to the bruising.
